Akap Aklat, in partnership with One for One foundation, was a book drive that aimed to support the reconstruction of libraries in four primary schools affected by Typhoon Yolanda in Daanbantayan, Cebu.
Last November 30 to December 1, 2014, a newly renovated library, new bookshelves, and books were turnover to Tapilon Central Elementary School and Daanbantayan Central School. These two schools have the highest population of elementary students in their respective districts.
The renovation of a library and construction of the bookshelves were made possible by the literacy grant awarded by The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. The books were through the efforts of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi University of the Philippines, iBelong Philippines Foundation, Inc., and various student organizations from UP Diliman, UP Manila, UP Visayas, and UP Mindanao.
